Stoa

Reimagining an everyday disposable as an object worth keeping

Stoa is a self-initiated exploration into refillable personal care, developed from the initial idea through product architecture, mechanism development, form, materials and brand identity.

This led to a compact aluminium case designed around a replaceable fibre-based refill. Considerable development went into how the refill, dispensing mechanism and outer housing could work as a single system while keeping the exterior as visually simple as possible.

The final direction uses a conventional twisting interaction deliberately hidden within a minimal form. A removable soft-touch base provides grip for operating the mechanism while creating a subtle material contrast with the aluminium body.

Designed to be kept
Rather than treating sustainability as the aesthetic, Stoa explores whether permanence and desirability can encourage a different relationship with an everyday product: keep the object, replace only what is consumed.
